The Cancer Wellness Spa of Greater Rochester was founded in May, 2006 by Dr. Cynthia Angel, Dr. Brent DuBeshter, and Eileen Grossman who realized the necessity for all cancer patients to have diversionary activities while receiving chemotherapy treatments. Chemotherapy can be emotionally, mentally and physically taxing. It is commonly associated with unpleasant side effects. Providing these activities allows the patients the opportunity to have a more positive experience.
The Cancer Wellness Spa is not a place but a program, where services are brought into the treatment center. After three years of serving patients at the Lucy DiPerna treatment room at 125 Lattimore Road, we've moved our program to serve patients at the Highland Hospital Infusion Center and expanded into the Unity/St. Mary's Campus, Chemotherapy and Hematology Infusion Unit. We continue our program at the Golisano Children's Hospital.
At Highland Hospital and Unity/St. Mary's we provide spa services including manicures, makeovers, skin care, scarf and wig demonstrations, personal training and hearty snacks. We look forward to expanding these services to include activities for a more diverse population.
